  1. I am pretty sure there is a stop sign there, who did not stop. This is a terrible accident. We trust that when our kids go off to school they will be safe while travelling to and from. Our hearts go out to the grieving families.

  2. This is terrible and makes me sick that these accidents happen, I recently had my two children, involved in a school bus crash one of which was critical and the other had severe ligament and muscle damage to his neck, the bus was hit by a fuel tanker. I hate to see more families going through what my family has and my heart goes out to all involved. this accident has happened exaclty 4months to the day of when my world was turned upside down, you would never think this kind of thing could happen again, but some how it has. we pass our condolences to the family grieving and wish the other people involved the best recovery possible. the power of prayer in a time like this is so powerful, we are praying for you all.

  3. Yes there is a stop sign at this intersection. The truck did not stop and obviously did not even slow down or see the stop sign.

  4. Yes, there is a stop sign there, however, before we blame the drivers, it should be noted that this particular intersection is very narrow and the stop sign is not well placed. I had an accident in that very spot, as have many other residents. That was 10 years ago. The road needs to be fixed irrespective of which driver is (if either) at fault here. Simply, it is a tragic accident that could have been avoided, were upgrades to the intersection performed. They were not, due to budget restraints. Now tell me, exactly how do you budget the value of a 9 year old? Perhaps now, hindsight will lead the way to action.

  5. We have seen in Urunga what is the outcome of heavy through traffic on narrow, unsuitable suburban streets.
From Munro Lane through to Edward Street, Kelso Street is obviously unsuited as a short cut thoroughfare, especially for heavy vehicles.
Bollards should be installed immediately, so that the through traffic takes a more suitable and safer route.
