A 22-year-old woman was arrested after leading police on a car chase from Cessnock to Newcastle early this morning.
A Cessnock man called police just before midnight after he saw his 2010-model Mercedes Benz station wagon being driven away from his property.
Central Hunter police followed the woman through Kurri Kurri and Thornton after she failed to stop, but were forced to end the pursuit due to the way the woman was driving.
Newcastle City Local Area Command resumed the chase at the intersection of Industrial Drive and Maitland Road at Mayfield a short time later.
The woman stopped the car at Civic Railway Station where she was arrested.
She will appear in Newcastle Court this afternoon.
