A 17-year-old p-plater is dead after a horrific crash west of Seaham, near Newcastle.
Police were called to Clarence Town Road at Glen Oak at around 6:30 last night to find a car had slammed into a power pole.
The force of the impact snapped the vehicle in half.
The teenage driver died at the scene – police are appealing for any witnesses to the accident to come forward.
