POLICE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR SUSPECTED MISCONDUCT
A Ballina Magistrate has declined to refer three local police officers to the supreme court to face charges of contempt.
The trio are being investigated for allegedly lying under oath and tampering with evidence in the trial of Corey Barker.
It was alleged Mr Barker attacked a senior police officer while in custody last January, but he has maintained it was the officers who assaulted him.
The charges against the 23-year-old were dropped last month when CCTV video emerged showing him being kicked by officers at the Ballina Police station.
The Police Integrity Commission is investigating the alleged misconduct.
