The New South Wales Breeders Challenge comes to the Hunter for the first time tomorrow, with Newcastle Paceway welcoming what you might call the ‘best of the rest’ from around the state.
“They might not have won the big heats or the finals, they finished mid field or they might be late bloomers in the season so this gives them the chance to compete against horses of their own ability without the superstars being there.”
CEO Ross Gigg says the event will provide a springboard to higher accolades, with six $20,000 races on the card.
“These horses then can go onto the next level and in 2 or 3 years time they could be the best pacers in NSW.”
