CLAIMS CSG WASTEWATER COULD BE DUMPED IN WATER SUPPLY UNDER DRAFT GOVERNMENT POLICY

The State Opposition claims coal seam gas wastewater could be re-injected into rivers and even our water supply under a new state government proposal.
The ‘draft’ Aquifer Interference Policy was leaked by the Opposition today, who have slammed the O’Farell government for betraying farming communities.
Under the proposal certain large scale CSG developments would be exempt from having to obtain aquifer interference approvals, while controversial evaporation ponds would be allowed.
NBN is awaiting a response from the government.
Water testing for contaminants tests for specific compounds, we won’t know about the effect of unidentified carcinogens etc until its far too late to do anything about it. If they want to gasify coal a much safer option is pyrolosis with the added benefit of fuel as a byproduct and ash for cement/concrete. This is another industry that will survive on corporate welfare while providing minimal employment and trashing the environment. We pay $15million a year for forestsNSW to cut down our forests for no profit, how much will we end up paying to trash our farmland? And now you want us to drink the wastewater? How will they remove fracking compounds, cadmium, arsenic, lead and other heavy metals? Will we be allowed independent testing or is it all going to be monitored by its own industry? I feel so safe with aussie gubmint, organized labour vs organized capital and screw the people.
I cannot believe that this is really an option here in Australia, or anywhere for that matter.
I feel terrified for my family and the future of this great land.
This is not an option on all levels.csg mining is a negative input with many negative implications that still are evolving .How can we make this decision when we still don’t understand the science.A big decision for pollies to make on behalf of all Australians…Get involved Australia and read the real facts and the long term devastation this can have on our future generations and our environment.https://www.facebook.com/groups/gas.alliance/
