FAKE ARMED ROBBERY LANDS MAN IN JAIL

A Gold Coast man has been jailed for faking an armed robbery at Southport RSL.
In July last year, Peter Tomai made off with more than 30-thousand dollars, after threatening the RSL manager with a knife and demanding she open the till.
But police claim the attack was a set-up, thought out by the supposed victim, Ellen Puru, who is Tomai’s ex partner.
She’s now fighting her own charge.
Today Tomai was sentenced to 24 months jail- to serve six months behind bars.
He was also ordered to pay back half of the takings- around $15,000.
