A Newcastle police officer has undergone surgery at John Hunter Hospital after being glassed.
The 25-year-old constable was attacked while arresting a 43-year-old from Canberra, who’d allegedly threatened bus passengers at the Newcastle interchange.
The officer suffered cuts to his hands and arm.
The 43-year-old has also been hospitalised with wrist injuries, and remains under police guard.
