NO ANSWER ON QUARRY EXPANSION JUST YET

The Northern Joint Regional Planning Panel has again deferred its decision over the expansion of Wavehill Quarry near Narrabri.
The proposed expansion would see the quarry’s extraction increase from 30,000 tonnes of basalt, to up to 200,000 tonnes per year.
Community concern about dust impacts resulting from the expansion led the panel to defer its decision earlier this year.
Chair Garry West says the panel’s now deferred the application for an additional 60 days, as Narrabri Shire Council works to develop a voluntary planning agreement for a road upgrade.
