CONNECTED COMMUNITIES EDUCATION INITITAIVE

Two Taree schools will be part of the State Government’s new initiative to improve education outcomes for Aboriginal students.
15 schools have been identified for the ‘Connected Communities’ strategy, including Taree Public and Taree High.
Under the new approach, schools will become community hubs, working in partnership with Aboriginal leaders in the community.
It will tailor education to student needs, and will give principals a greater role in the process.
The program aims to reverse the current situation where only a third of Aboriginal students who start year seven complete high school.
