STUDY INTO DERELICT RAIL LINE BEGINS

After eight years of inaction the wheels are finally being set in motion to decide the future of the Casino to Murwillumbah rail line.
Engineers have begun a study into the benefits and cost of re-opening the derelict thoroughfare.
Over the next couple of weeks, experts will inspect key points along the 130 kilometre line, checking the condition of the rail, sleepers, bridges, tunnels and stations.
The results from the study are expected to be released late this year.
