ENVIRO OFFSET FOR LOADER BID
The operator behind Newcastle’s proposed fourth coal loader has acquired a parcel of land, to be used to offset some of the expected environmental impact.
Port Waratah Coal Services has bought 242 hectares of land at Tomago.
It will be set aside for the restoration and preservation of saltmarsh and wetland areas.
The land is part of the Hunter estuary and attracts migratory birds and fauna.
The T4 coal loader proposal is before the Department of Planning and Infrastructure.
