RESIDENTS DETAIN ALLEGED INTRUDER IN HAMILTON BREAK-IN

An alleged intruder has been detained by residents in an aggravated break and enter in a Newcastle suburb overnight.
Just after 8 o’clock three people were in their Warrah Street home in Hamilton, when one of them heard noises coming from his bedroom.
The 54-year-old man went to investigate, and allegedly found the 58-year-old man standing in the room.
The two became involved in a scuffle, with the resident sustaining a cut to the head.
Family members then intervened, and called police.
The man was arrested and charged with aggravated break and enter.
