Merewether has made up for the disappointment of losing the SCG Country Cup,taking out this afternoon’s Newcastle District Cricket Twenty20 final against Wests.
Merewether’s top order all made solid starts, but the visitors only had themselves to blame for some costly errors in the field.
Sam Gilmour made a valuable cameo, belting 22 runs off just seven balls to remain unbeaten at the end of the Lions innings.
In reply, Wests needed early runs but Dave Carlton fell cheaply, caught behind off the bowling of Dan Morton.
