UNMANNED SAILDRONE ENDS UP IN PORT MACQUARIE

An unmanned research vessel launched off the coast of Tasmania has ended up in Port Macquarie.
The Saildrone had been tasked to collect general data for meteorology purposes until it was damaged by a storm in the Bass Strait.
On Friday representatives from San Francisco’s CSIRO and Port Macquarie’s Marine Rescue salvaged the vessel.
Despite being damaged, it’s still managed to collect valuable data.
The drone will stay in Port Macquarie until a team is sent from the United States to collect it.
