  1. Cr. Scott Sharpe can barely string a sentence together through his clenched teeth but somehow he’s been deemed worthy to be our new deputy Mayor. Wonders never cease, at least not with this council.

  2. So does the fact that all these years a myriad of species incl several threatened fauna who have lived in harmony with figs trees register on any qualified environmental officers radar?

  3. Who on earth told Sharpe that the arborists should be in charge of this decision? Where are the creative people – the landscape architects? Have they been so bullied over the last decade at NCC that they just hide in their offices? If we rely on the arborists we’ll get liquidambars – because they have no taste – or magnolias – because they’re slaves to fashion – or crepe myrtles – because they think small.

  4. How absurd when nationally and locally it is known there was nothing wrong with the iconic figs trees that were there ….ratepayers who have to fund a new Laman st being asked for input is laughable….12,000 ratepayers signed a petition to keep the Laman St figs …national and international arborists took a stand to assist the community., the Premier offered an independent assessment…the councillors who voted to keep them have fallen on their swords ….councillors who said oh its only the canopy holding them together or they have no roots or they are so dangerous we must make a decision and get them down fast ..never ventured out on behalf of the community to seek the truth supporting instead Senior Managers at Council afraid of losing their jobs over the community….
