AVOCA LOCAL TAKES OUT SKI TITLE

Avoca’s Lachlan Tame has successfully defended his ski title at the Australian Surf Life Saving championships on the Gold Coast.

Tame defeated Olympians Peter Scott, Ken Wallace and Clint Robinson to claim gold.

The 23-year-old finished second in the double ski with Ben Hamilton; and combined with Hamilton and Gordon Jones to win silver in the ski relay.

Avoca was also triumphant in the Board Rescue, with veteran Chris Parker and Daniel Shade combining to win gold.

Terrigal’s Amy Nurthen finished third in the prestigious iron woman event; behind Rebecca Creedy and Devon Halligan; the daughter of former Kiwi rugby league International Daryl Halligan.

Club mate Tim Schofield also won bronze in the Open Belt race.
