JETS STILL HOPING JEFFERS WILL STAY IN NEWCASTLE

Jets Chairman Ken Edwards has met with Francis Jeffers to try and find some way to keep the Englishman at the club.

Mr Edwards says he has no doubts the striker wants to stay, but both parties have to be happy with any deal struck.

The Jets still believe a solution can be found, but don’t expect to announce anything until the middle of next week.

Meanwhile, as the team sweats on the fitness of keeper Ben Kennedy, it’s being boosted by the return of several players, including Ruben Zadkovich and Jobe Wheelhouse.

“Hopefully we can come back into the team and make a difference and like I said get back to our winning ways there’s still a heap of confidence in the group”
