COUNCIL DECIDES NAME CHANGE PROPOSAL

A rescission motion to stop plans for a proposed name change of Greater Taree City Council, will be put forward at tonight’s meeting.

Last month, councillor Mave Richardson made the suggestion and called for a survey to gauge public opinion.

Mayor Paul Hogan was initially in favour, but then signed off on a rescission motion, saying the process would be too costly.

The Manning Valley Business Chamber believes a name change would be beneficial to business and tourism.
