POLICE WARN AGAINST SES FUNDRAISING SCAM

Police are warning to be wary of donation scams after reports of phonecalls to Lismore residents pretending to be SES members.

The scam artists claimed they were raising money for flood relief and asked for credit card details.

But the New South Wales SES says it does not make phonecalls or doornock for donations.

“It’s disgraceful conduct, again we see an example of the good name of the SES being tarnished by unscrupulous operators praying on the good nature of our community members”.

Police are reminding residents not to give credit card details over the phone, and to check the identification of doorknock charity collectors.
