TWO FACE COURT AFTER ATTEMPTED BANK ROBBERY

Lawyers for a middle-aged man accused of driving the getaway car after a bank robbery in Wallsend on Friday afternoon, say the police case is thin.

Officers claim to have found a shortened .22 rifle in 56-year-old Mark Sullivan’s car.

He’ll apply for bail tomorrow.

Another man, Pusa Tuimaualuga, accused of holding up the bankm, was formally refused bail.

Up to 20 employees and customers were allegedly threatened with the weapons and ordered to get on the ground.
