An elderly Ballina woman has suffered head injuries after she was hit by a car on Links Avenue in Ballina this morning.
Paramedics worked for almost 45 minutes to stabilise the 80-year-old, before she flown to Lismore Base Hospital by the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicoper in a critical condition.
Family rushed to the scene, while the teenage driver also remained.
“The early indications are that the 18 year old driver wasn’t at fault it’s just an unfortunate accident ”
Police are urging any witnesses to come forward.
