ROBYN PARKER UNDER FIRE AGAIN OVER HANDLING OF ORICA LEAK

The head of Orica says has told a parliamentary inquiry, he tried on three occasions to contact Environment Minister Robyn Parker following an August leak, but only got as far as her chief of staff. Graeme Liebelt claims he tried to contact Ms Parker on the 15th, 16th and 17th of August, but didn’t succeed in being put through.
He told the inquiry he wanted to tell the minister they were sorry the leak had happened, they were doing everything possible to
respond to it in a responsible way and to reinforce with the minister that as a company they take such matters very seriously.
The Environment Minister has been under fire over her handling of the August 8 leak from the Kooragang Island plant, and the three day delay in notifying residents of the accident.
