A 28-year-old man will front court next month over the alleged assault of a 35-year-old man outside of the Exchange Hotel in Kyogle on Saturday night.
Police say the victim was punched, before falling and hitting his head on the pavement causing serious head injuries.
The hotel was closed at the time of the incident.
The victim is currently in Gold Coast Hospital in a serious condition.
