The people of Taree are set to benefit from the appointment of a new urology specialist, Doctor Ben Kwok.
Originally from Sydney, Dr Kwok will provide services to both the Manning Base Hospital and the Mayo Private.
Hospital management say the addition of a second urologist will help boost and strengthen local surgical services.
Management say it hopes to continue recruiting quality specialists to the area.
