NEWCASTLE UNI EXPLORING OPTIONS IN TAMWORTH

The University of Newcastle is a step closer to establishing a campus in Tamworth, with both Tamworth Regional Council and the University signing an official memorandum of understanding today.

Under the agreement, the university will assess the economic benefits of having a stronger presence in Tamworth.

“What the MOU seeks to do first of all is establish what are the educational opportunities and what are the needs, so where are the strengths in terms of industry, economic development, economic needs within the region,”  said UoN’s Director of Regional Campus, Trevor Geresen.

Currently, the University operates a department of rural health next to Tamworth Base Hospital.
