Two young people were killed just after nine last night when the car they were passengers in collided with another car on Richardson Road, near Williamtown.
Both vehicles caught on fire in the crash, one car was torn in half, landing in a swamp beside the road.
Four other people were injured, two from each car. Two people are listed as critical in Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
The passengers who died were two 14 year old girls, the car they were in was being driven by a 17 year old P plate driver.
