11 beds have closed at Lismore Base Hospital, after the New South Wales Nurses Association and Health Service failed to come to a resolution at a second disputes meeting this morning.
Hospital management has again refused to consider using agency nurses to fill vacancies, which the association says causes excessive overtime which puts staff and patients at risk.
Other solutions were brought to the table, but the assocation says they don’t provide short term relief.
The beds will remain closed until further notice, however nurses maintain no patient’s safety will be put at risk.
