POLICE LOOK FOR ARMED HOLDUP LINK

A police taskforce is investigating whether an armed holdup at a New Lambton building society is linked to a string of other violent robberies.
It was 3pm on Friday July 15th when two brash but heavily disguised offenders burst into the Newcastle Permanent on Regent Street.
One tried unsuccessfully to smash into an office area using a sledge hammer, while the other menaced tellers with a sawn-off weapon.
A white Holden Commodore, driven by a third man was waiting outside and then ditched, when the trio linked-up with another man in another car in a nearby street.
