HUNTER FIREFIGHTER TO FACE COURT ON ARSON CHARGES

A 21 year old volunteer firefighter has pleaded guilty in Toronto Local Court to 10 counts of knowingly causing fire and being reckless to its spread in relation to bushfires in the Lake Macquarie area.
Police say the Rural Fire Service volunteer, lit 10 small fires in the Lake Macquarie bushland during August and September.
NSW RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said any volunteer who started fires committed the ultimate betrayal to members.
“If anyone engages in this kind of criminal activity, we will do everything possible to bring them to the attention of police,” he said.
