Two players from the Newcastle Jets youth team, Luke Remington and Andrew Hoole, have been added to the Australian Young Joeys squad for a special series in Japan.
The 17-year-olds will fly out on Monday for three games against Japan, Mexico, and Thailand.
It’s the first time both have been selected to represent their country, and gives them a chance to secure permanent spots.
“Yeah it’s a good opportunity for me. I’ll take it with open arms and hopefully I can do well over in Japan.”
Hoole will play for the Broadmeadow Magic in tonight’s trial match against the Newcastle Jets at Speers Point.
