CLUNES KEEPS ITS CAMERA UNDER COMPROMISE

Clunes residents have won their battle to retain the village’s fixed speed camera, but it comes with a compromise.
While the camera will remain in place, it will no longer fine motorists for speeding, but instead issue them with a warning notice.
Despite the change, many locals say they are are pleased the camera will not be removed, and will continue lobbying for a second one to be installed at the northern end of town.
The camera was switched off last week after being identified as one of 38-ineffective systems across the state.
