LOVE TRIANGLE BEHIND ALLEGED HAMMER BASHING

A love triangle appears to be behind a fight that allegedly saw a 42-year-old man receive a hammer blow to the head in Ballina yesterday afternoon.

40-year-old Michael John Dillon was refused bail in Lismore Local Court today, charged with numerous offences including causing grievous bodily harm.

The court heard two brothers were allegedly armed with scissors when they approached Dillon’s house in Tamar Street over Dillon’s girlfriend, the former partner of one of the men.

It’s alleged Dillon then used a hammer to strike one brother in the head, before assaulting the other.

The 42-year-old man is in Gold Coast hospital with serious head injuries.

His brother was also charged over the incident.
