It’s been a long time coming, but from today the Central Coast will be officially recognised as an independent region by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Data collected from the area will now be identified as relating solely to the Central Coast, rather than including the coast’s figures with those of Northern Sydney.
The move is expected to raise the profile of the area while providing direction for planning in fields such as tourism, education and health.
