Truck and bus drivers are being warned to stick to the speed limit on the Pacific Highway, south of Ballina, or face hefty fines.
From Sunday, new point to point cameras will be targeting heavy vehicles between Wardell and Woodburn
The cameras will measure the time it takes a truck or bus to travel between the two areas before calculating its average speed.
Locals says it’s a notorious stretch of highway; between 2006 and 2010 four people were killed and 17 injured in crashes involving heavy vehicles.
