LISMORE COUNCIL INCREASES RATES BY 2.8%

Lismore residents will endure an average $28 dollar rate rise after council handed down its budget last night.
General rates increased by 2.8 percent, meaning the average yearly bill will now be $1030.
The budget is balanced though, at $129 million dollars.
About $17-million will go towards the expansion of the wastewater network and around $18-million for urban and rural roads.
Councillors also resolved to consider finding an extra $2-million for roads in the review of the Lismore Community Strategic plan next year.
