THOUSANDS ENJOY NEW YEARS EVE CELEBRATIONS ACROSS NEWCASTLE AND THE HUNTER

More than 25,000 people gathered in the Honeysuckle precinct last night to ring in the new year.
The 9pm fireworks was the highlight of festivities in the city, but celebrations weren’t limited to the harbour. Wood Street was closed off near the Cambridge Hotel, where about 2,000 people gathered to enjoy a street party and line up of live music including Ball Park Music, The Fundamentals and KLP.
Meantime at Maitland a crowd of 8,000 people gathered along the riverfront for a family friendly affair, with free entertainment, rides and fireworks.
