WOMAN ‘STABLE’ AFTER POLICE SHOOTING

A woman shot in the face by a police officer in Coffs Harbour is showing small signs of improvement.
The 24-year-old woman from Lara in Victoria, was shot in the jaw when police attempted to arrest her in an allegedly stolen vehicle, early yesterday morning.
She was initially treated at Coffs Harbour Base Hospital before being airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter in a serious condition.
A hospital spokesperson says she is now listed as stable.
It is still unclear what led to the shooting.
A 26-year-old man also in the car at the time has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, and is due to face court in Coffs Harbour later this month.
