Former Matilda Joey Peters has scored a hat-trick to help Charlestown to a big win in the Women’s Premier League.
Mid North Coast overcame Adamstown, while Merewether beat Broadmeadow.
The Magic went into the game undefeated and had its chances in the first half.
But it was Merewether who grabbed the upper hand after the break, as Danielle Buttsworth set up Miranda Walker.

  6. it is refreshing to finally see womens sport acknowledged on a more regular basis alongside the traditional male sports which have been supported with good TV coverage for many years. Well done NBN for increasing the exposure of womens sport and supporting the womens sport movement.

Joey is a great role model for the rest of the WPL players and for ALL youngsters out there aspiring to play sport.

  8. It’s about time that women’s sport gets some well deserved coverage too. Regarding sports news it’s always about the men (newsprint too), so congratulations NBN, hopefully this is a new beginning and an exciting sign of things to look forward to for women in sport!

  9. Always good to see women’s sport promoted in the media. We have some quality players and coaches and administrators in our region that need to be recognised. It would be good to see equal air time for the men and women’s sports.
