LISMORE COUNCIL MEETS OVER BUDGET DEFICIT
Lismore councillors will meet later tonight to discuss a $140,000 black hole in the city’s budget.
Legal fees in the fight against Champions Quarry and the decision to keep Lismore’s Memorial Baths open during winter months are the main reasons behind the deficit.
But Mayor Jenny Dowel is confident the margin can be reduced.
“We have to manage that carefully and be mindful of what’s in there so that when we go into the new financial year we can take it into account and deal with it.”
Tomorrow night, council will begin budget workshops for the next financial year.
