NEW BRIDGE FOR VALLA RESIDENTS

Residents of Valla are getting closer to having a new bridge to replace an old structure which was damaged in flooding in 2009.

The Deep Creek bridge, which has been closed for more than two-years, has forced rural residents to take a detour of several kilometres to access the Pacific Highway.

New concrete piles are now in place with the old timber structure due to be removed over the next week.

The $500,000 replacement concrete single lane bridge is expected to be open to traffic within the next month.
