At Watego’s Beach, longboard legends will ride the waves this weekend, all in the name of charity.
The annual 31st Malibu Classic is a social competition where people of all ages can and abilities can show off in the surf.
Like local legend Alan Aitkins.
“Al’s a pretty competitive, competitor and he has got 7 Australian titles. He’s pretty good, some of these guys out there aren’t far behind him, very good also.”
Organisers are hoping the event will raise at least $15,000 for local organisations, including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Red Cross.
The event will run all weekend, with the finals to take place on Sunday.
