LOCAL POLLIES MAKE THEIR MARK IN STATE PARLIAMENT

Lismore MP Thomas George is settling into his new role as deputy speaker of the Legislative Assembly.

Mr George was sworn in yesterday on the first day of the 55th New South Wales Parliament.

The Far North Coast now has a stronger representation in Parliament.

Member for Clarence Steve Cansdell is the new Parliamentary Secretary to the police minister, Ballina MP Don Page was sworn in as Minister for the North Coast, while Byron Shire Mayor Jan Barham was elected into the upper house.
