Coffs Harbour MP, Andrew Fraser, has been appointed assistant speaker in the New South Wales Parliament.
Mr Fraser, who famously throttled former minister, Joe Tipodi in 2005, will see his backbench salary of $136,000 jump to more than $180,000.
The Member for Coffs Harbour will undertake administrative duties as well as act as Speaker when the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are absent from the chamber.
Mr Fraser denied he was disappointed not to have received a ministry in the new government.
