MAN CHARGED OVER CHEMICAL INCIDENT ON CENTRAL COAST

A man has been charged over Monday’s chemical incident on the Central Coast that led to one person being hospitalised.

Avoca Road was closed on Monday afternoon as emergency crews responded to reports that fumes were detected coming from a pool shop in Kincumber.

Police say the 33-year-old man entered the store at about 3pm and was hostile to staff before puncturing a number of chemical containers that were on the back of a ute parked nearby, letting out toxic fumes.

Two people were overcome by fumes with one treated in hospital suffering from minor burns to the throat.

The man has been charged with three counts of stalking and intimidation and one count of damaging property by fire/explosive.
