Hunter Valley rail lines have been closed at Metford, north of Newcastle
after a man was hit by an unladen north bound coal train, late this afternoon.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene after witnesses reported seeing a man running on tracks before being hit.
The train continued on to Maitland, its driver apparently unaware of the incident.
