An 82-year-old man will appear in East Maitland Local Court today charged over a number of alleged historical sexual offences around Newcastle.
At about 10am yesterday officers searched a home in Thornton and allegedly located a number of items, including child abuse material.
The man was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with several sex offences including seven counts of sexual assault and 38 counts of indecent assault on a male.
The charges follow an investigation into alleged complaints of historical sexual abuse at a Wallsend boy’s home between 1944 and 1981.
