RESCUE TEAM FREES TRAPPED WHALE CALF

A whale calf has been freed from shark nets on the Central Coast, after it was found trapped this morning.
Members of the public discovered the baby mammal at about 7am at Soldiers Beach, just south of Norah Head.
A rescue team from the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service arrived on scene at midday and managed to free the calf, despite intrusions from its protective mother.
