Sentencing submissions have begun against a 17-year-old male, found guilty of manslaughter after inciting a fight which ended in the death of 21-year-old Jamie Purdon.
Mr Purdon was king hit at the Maitland Show in 2009.
Today Newcastle District Court heard a victim impact statement from Mr Purdon’s step-father, in which he said, “We are living every parents’ worst nightmare and of all the stupid things he’s done … going to the local show should have been safe.”
The teen, who can’t be named for legal reasons, will be sentenced in April.
