In the Hunter region, it’s possible the ALP will hold just two state seats – those of Cessnock and Wallsend.
The focus is now on Newcastle and Swansea, which are yet to be declared.
Liberal candidate Tim Owen is slightly ahead in Newcastle, while in Swansea the ALP and Liberal candidates are neck and neck.
An official outcome is not likely until later this week.
